Remembering Dr. Kamal Chakraborty: A beacon of compassion, wisdom, and literary brilliance..........

Remembering Dr. Kamal Chakraborty: A beacon of compassion, wisdom, and literary brilliance.
.........
Dr. Kamal Chakraborty, a towering figure of humanism, philanthropy, and literature, left for his heavenly abode yesterday, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations. As the founder of Bhalopahar School, he dedicated his life to the education and upliftment of Santhal students in Purulia, ensuring that the light of knowledge reached the most underprivileged corners of society.

To me, Dr. Chakraborty was not just a close friend but a man with a golden heart. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the betterment of others set him apart as a beacon of hope and compassion. It was through his support and encouragement that my Bengali short stories saw the light of day, with their release at the Kolkata Book Fair—a moment made all the more special by his presence.

His book stall at the fair was always a highlight for me, a place where literature came alive with his stories and recollections. But now, with his absence, the fair will never be the same; it will feel lifeless, a shadow of the vibrant experience it once was.

Three years ago, my wife and I had the privilege of visiting Bhalopahar, a visit made unforgettable by Dr. Chakraborty's engaging anecdotes about Bengali literary icons like Sunil Ganguly, Samaresh Majumder, Nabanita Dev Sen, and Shankha Ghose—luminaries who were not just his contemporaries but his dear friends. His stories brought these literary giants to life, making us feel as though we were part of their circle, if only for a moment.

We had promised to return, but now, with his departure, another visit to Bhalopahar seems unimaginable. The world has lost not just a brilliant mind and a compassionate soul but also a rare individual whose life was a testament to the power of kindness and the written word.

Dr. Kamal Chakraborty's legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched and in the pages of the books he helped bring to the world. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a guiding light for those of us fortunate enough to have known him. #bhalopahar #drkamalchakraborty
